Product Characteristics & Care Notes
Glass blocks and glass bricks are versatile architectural materials that combine natural light, privacy, and durability. They are widely used in facades, windows, partition walls, showers, feature walls, and other decorative or functional applications.
Available in a variety of sizes, colors, and surface patterns, they offer excellent resistance to moisture, corrosion, UV exposure, and daily wear, making them suitable for both residential and commercial projects.
The main difference between glass blocks and glass bricks is their structure:
Glass blocks are hollow inside.
Glass bricks are solid throughout.
Hollow glass blocks offer excellent light transmittance, airtightness, and thermal insulation performance. These properties make them especially suitable for energy-efficient and passive building designs, where natural lighting and insulation are important.
Solid glass bricks offer exceptional compressive strength and crystal-like clarity. Compared to hollow glass blocks, solid glass bricks provide greater load-bearing capability, allowing for more possibilities in structural and architectural applications.
Usually, a complete glass block specification is defined by a combination of:
Size + Color + Coloring Method + Pattern.
For colors, the colors shown on our website do not cover all available options. We fully support custom colors. You can provide your preferred colors and effects, and we can customize them for you.
For patterns/textures, you can refer to the pictures shown on our website page.
For coloring method, there are four options:
Edge-colored
Interior-colored
Exterior-colored
Clear
Glass bricks are customized in a very similar way to glass blocks. The main difference is the coloring method.
For glass bricks, there are three options:
Clear
Exterior-colored
Interior-colored
Exterior-Colored Glass Bricks
The color is applied to the surface of the glass brick and then baked onto it. This method is more economical and typically results in a very clean appearance with few visible bubbles or inclusions within the glass.
However, because the color is applied externally, exterior-colored glass bricks are not recommended for outdoor areas exposed to long-term direct sunlight, as fading or color deterioration may occur over time.
Interior-Colored Glass Bricks
The color is added during the glass melting process and becomes integrated within the glass itself. This production method is more complex and labor-intensive, requiring hand-pouring and additional manufacturing steps.
During the melting and casting process, small air bubbles may naturally become trapped within the glass. These are a normal characteristic of this production method and do not affect the performance of the product.
Interior-colored glass bricks are generally more expensive, but they offer better long-term color stability and are suitable for outdoor applications.
